Sun Peaks, February 2014

When my parents made plans to head West for a month of skiing in the Canadian Rockies, I felt it was the right thing to do to go out for a few days

to keep them company......  This is how I found myself skiing at Sun Peaks near Kamloops BC for four days in February.

It was COLD while I was there, and we didn't get any fresh snow, but the hills were in great shape and it was like excellent Ontario conditions with a vertical of over 800 meters - perfect for carving nice big turns & skiing fast!

With the cold temperatures, there were sun dogs in the sky, adding to the already stunning views of the Rockies.  It had been a while since I had skied at a big mountain, but I found it wasn't too hard to get back into the swing of things - I even succeeded in warming-up quite nicely one frigid afternoon by taking a stab at the bumps.

It was excellent to have a break away from the office, if only for a few days, and I think I'm going to have to find an excuse to come out here again - if only to try and hit it at a time when there's fresh snow for practice at skiing powder.
